INTERVIEW: “I have lost four kilograms in six days,” MP Kabanda says it’s insulting to call him ‘Judas’ as he’s only a messenger working on orders from his boss

Kasambya County Member of Parliament David Kabanda has said that he lost four kilograms in about six days due to the insults and criticism.

He says that these started coming in on May 12th when he announced that the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) would not support embattled Anita Among for the 12th Parliament Speaker position and instead endorsed Jacob Markson Oboth-Oboth for the position.

Speaking in an interview on NTV, Kabanda said he has since not been able to eat or drink due to the too much stress caused by what he describes as deep insults.

“I don’t know when I last had a meal. I am always stressed, which has made me unable to eat or drink anything,” Kabanda said.

He added, “I have seen people accuse me of forging these statements that I issue, with some saying General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has not endorsed them. Some also claim that I am the person running Muhoozi’s X account, which is not true.”

About being labelled ‘Judas Iscariot’ for betraying his friend Anita Among, Kabanda said that he’s a mere messenger who is working on orders from his boss, Muhoozi.

“I only say what I have been ordered to say. I cannot say no to my boss. Even if it were Anita Among and the President had ordered her to expel me from Parliament, she would do it without a second guess.”

Kabanda says that he’s no longer sure whether they are still friends with Anita Among due to what has happened in the past days.

“I last talked to her on May 13 after she had been sworn in as a member of Parliament. At that time, I knew she was going to meet the President. And I only told her that she should agree with what the President says and not try to defy him,” Kabanda said.

But he claims that he only learnt about the corruption probe a day after Anita Among met the President.

“I did not know the intention or what was on the agenda of their meeting. I only got to know about the ongoing probe after their meeting,” he said before adding that, as PLU, they were only aware of the mismanagement that was in the 11th Parliament.
