Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oboth-Oboth has warned that wealth without discipline leads to waste.
Speaking at a thanksgiving ceremony for State Minister for Agriculture Desire Muhooza at Sheraton Hotel, the Speaker said money itself is not the problem, but how people handle it is.
“I love money, but money cannot make me do evil,” Oboth-Oboth told the gathering. “Too much money without the capacity to manage it will only make you buy things you don’t even need.”
He urged leaders and citizens to focus on managing resources wisely instead of chasing more wealth they cannot control.
The Speaker also called on Ugandans to pray for the country’s leadership.
“Pray for the leadership of this nation; pray for Parliament so that place should not be a place where witchcraft is exalted. It should be a place of praise, power, and where good laws are made,” he said.
Oboth-Oboth further reminded MPs that winning elections is only the beginning of service. He said they must now deliver on the promises they made to voters during campaigns and use their positions to improve people’s lives.
