Police in Kampala have launched a manhunt for a woman accused of pouring hot water on her four-year-old daughter after the child allegedly ate rice without her permission.
The suspect, identified as Micheline Zabaki, is accused of attacking the girl at their home in Kyambogo, Nakawa Division, on Saturday, 1 August.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, the mother fled immediately after the incident and has not yet been arrested.
Police said the child sustained burn injuries and investigations into the alleged torture are ongoing as officers work to trace the suspect.
Authorities have condemned the incident and appealed to anyone with information about Zabaki’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station to assist with her arrest.
