Police in Masaka have arrested two suspects over the murder of Natukunda Jackline, a resident of Lukaya, in a case involving allegations that a traditional healer hired a man to procure human body parts for Shs2 million.
The principal suspect, Kamugisha Kulaishi, 38, a moneylender and resident of Kasala LC I in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division, allegedly received Shs250,000 in advance, with the remaining Shs1.75 million yet to be paid, according to police investigations.
Police said the traditional healer, who is from Kyotera District, allegedly commissioned Kamugisha to obtain the body parts.
The investigation began on 29 September 2026, when a human head wrapped in a white polythene bag was reportedly dumped at Kako Cell along the Kako–Mukungwe Road in Nyendo-Mukungwe Division. The corresponding headless body was later recovered from Butale Cell in Kyanamukaka.
Following investigations, detectives arrested Kamugisha and the traditional healer. Kamugisha reportedly led detectives and Scenes of Crime Officers through a reconstruction of the crime scene, demonstrating where and how he allegedly picked up Natukunda from Lukaya before killing her.
Police have also linked Kamugisha to two other murder cases reported in Nsangi, Wakiso District, and Sanga. During questioning, he allegedly disclosed that he had eaten the heart of one of the victims. The allegations are still under investigation.
A search of Kamugisha’s home led to the recovery of a jacket, gumboots, a saucepan and other items suspected to be connected to ritual activities. Police have secured the items for forensic examination as investigations continue.
The two suspects remain at the centre of investigations into Natukunda’s murder and the other cases.
