The region’s two great rivals Uganda and Kenya go head to head in round one of the Central African Motocross Championship title.

This weekend will see the regeneration of the Motocross battles between Uganda and Kenya as the boys will be wheeling to win the first round of the Mountain Dew FIM Central African Motorcross Championship. The event is slated to run from Saturday March 31 to April 1on Easter Sunday at the Uganda Motorsports Arena in Busiika.

The event will see over 30 riders battle in MX50, MX65, MX85, MX125, MX2, MX1 and MX Vets categories. According to the organisers, the event will have two guest riders; Perez Yogev from Israel in the MX2 category and American Ray Laybovich in MX1 to spice up what is expected to be a fun-filled affair.

Uganda team captain Maxime Van Pee who was expected to have recovered from his knee injury in time for the showdown will miss the event but remained confident his team can defend the title.

“To all our dear fans, it’s happening again this Sunday at the Uganda Motorsports Arena Busiika. This time round it’s different; it’s the Central African Motocross Championship, please come all and be a witness as we defend our regional title. We have a lot more talent like; Fortune Sentamu, Gift Sebuguzi, Isabella Blick and many more to make us win,” Van Pee said.

Last year, Uganda successfully defended the title away in Kenya at the Jamhuri Racing Track in Nairobi. The team collected a total of 2,415 points while Kenya managed 1,758 points from the two rounds.  However, this was after Uganda’s impressive start in the first round—again at Busiika—as they collected 1,587 points with Kenya failing to bag even half of what our boys got.

Entrance to the Mountain Dew, Shell Advance, Cherish Hospital, Lato Milk and Luga Properties-sponsored event will be Shs10,000 for ordinary and Shs20,000 for the VIP tickets.
