Former Uganda Cranes star David Obua has become the latest addition to the Lango Province camp ahead of the kickoff of the FUFA Drum tournament’s second edition this Saturday, March 30. Obua was introduced to the province’s 40 summoned players on Tuesday as they held training at the Uganda Martyrs University Ngetta Campus.

The much-traveled local football icon is set to start his duties on the touchline on Saturday as his side faces defending champion Buganda in the opening fixture. The opening game will be played at Bishop’s Mukono in the presence of the Prime Minister of Buganda, Peter Mayiga.

Lango and Buganda are in Group B of this year’s campaign alongside Ankole and Sebei provinces.

Obua has promised Lango fans  good and spirited displays throughout the campaign, as did the optimistic province PRO Daniel Moi who said: “With the arrival of Obua, combined with a number of senior players like KCCA’s Allan Okello among others, we are destined for success.”

This will be Obua’s second attempt at coaching, after spending a short stint at Maroons FC as assistant to George Best Nsimbe.
