Uganda Cranes and KCCA FC left winger, Mustafa Kizza initially left the Kasasiro boys in 2020. He made a dream move to the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer.

However, after just one season, his contract was terminated. Reports indicate that he failed to impress while at the club.

The left-back joined Portuguese side Arouca, but again, his contract was terminated last year in December.

Earlier this year, he decided to rejoin KCCA FC until the end of the ongoing 2022–23 season.

Back then, during his old days at KCCA FC under then-head coach Mike Mutebi, Kizza was a shining star as he won titles for the club and also featured on the continental level. His performances then earned him the nickname “Assit King.”

While appearing on NBS Sport this morning, Kizza opened up about his struggles abroad. We are all aware that the list of Ugandan footballers that have failed to make it in other countries is longer than that of those that have made a mark outside of Uganda.

According to Kizza, Uganda is blessed with lots of talent, but the country lacks nurturing structures.

“We fail to make it in those leagues abroad because, back home, we are not given the details of understanding the game even when we know how to play,” said Kizza.

He urged the concerned authorities to invest more in the technical departments to help athletes get a proper tactical understanding of the game.

On his absence from the Uganda Cranes team, Kizza said, “I don’t need to talk to Coach Micho to return to the national team. All I need to do is play my best at KCCA FC to see to it that I can get the call to represent my country.”
