Solomon Kampala, the son of renowned politician and musician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, better known as Bobi Wine, has opened up about his journey through various sports disciplines before finding his true passion in track athletics.

Currently residing in Texas, United States of America, Solomon made his competitive debut in March 2023 in Dubai, marking the beginning of his promising athletic career.

In a recent live chat on TikTok, the 18-year-old reflected on his sporting journey, stating, “That was my first actual competition. Though I’ve been running for almost a year.”

Solomon revealed that initially, he aspired to become a swimmer, but soon realized it wasn’t his forte. “I used to lose breath very quickly,” he disclosed, shedding light on his early experiences in the pool.

His sporting endeavours didn’t stop there. As a toddler, Solomon also tried his hand at football, playing soccer at the age of seven. However, he ultimately decided not to pursue it competitively.

Despite these initial trials, Solomon found his calling in track athletics, particularly in the 200m sprint.

His dedication and talent were evident when he clinched the bronze medal at the Ultimate Race Nights in Dubai in March of the previous year, clocking an impressive time of 23.09 seconds, which remains his personal best to date. Solomon Kampala continues to hone his skills and make strides in the world of track athletics.
