The journey to the 2025 AFCON in Morocco is heating up, with several teams already securing their spots for next year’s prestigious tournament.

As the qualifying matches progress, Matchday Four features 23 encounters spread across three days, as teams from 12 groups battle fiercely for a chance to compete on the continental stage.

Burkina Faso became the first team to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations finals, following a 2-0 win in Burundi on Sunday, October 13.

Another member of Group L, Senegal, joined Burkina Faso in booking a ticket for the 2025 AFCON finals after amassing 10 points.

Record seven-time continental champions Egypt made it four wins from four in Group C to qualify for next year’s edition of AFCON.

DR Congo also sealed their spot at the finals following a 2-0 away win in Tanzania. Five-time AFCON winners Cameroon, along with Algeria and Angola, picked up their tickets for the continent’s most prestigious football tournament.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s Cranes moved to the brink of a place in the finals after a 2-0 win in South Sudan, but they will have to wait until next month for confirmation after Congo held South Africa to a 1-1 draw in Brazzaville, elsewhere in Group K.

The last two rounds of qualifiers will take place next month, with more teams looking to join the already qualified nations.

The 2025 Nations Cup is scheduled to begin on December 21 next year, with the final on January 18, 2026.
