Victoria University has clinched the 2024 University 7’s Rugby Championship title, rounding off an extraordinary season with their third circuit victory at Makerere University’s Graveyard ground. In a thrilling final showdown, Victoria University convincingly defeated Uganda Christian University (UCU) with a commanding 34-7 scoreline, solidifying their dominance in this year’s tournament.

The road to the final saw Victoria University overcome Uganda Martyrs University Nkozi with a 26-19 victory in the semi finals. On the other side, UCU secured their spot by edging out hosts Makerere University, 19-12, in a hard-fought semifinal clash. However, in the final, Victoria University’s aggressive playstyle and tactical superiority proved too much for UCU.

Malcolm Okello, Victoria University’s captain, was celebrated as the tournament’s Top Tries scorer, a testament to his skill and leadership on the field. His outstanding performance was pivotal in guiding his team to victory.
