Sports Club Villa has confirmed the appointment of Serbian tactician Milincic Nemanja as their new head coach, just 24 hours after the club officially parted ways with Morley Byekwaso.

The announcement was made through a statement signed by CEO William Nkemba, although the duration of Milincic’s contract was not disclosed. He becomes the fourth Serbian to take charge of the Jogoos, following in the footsteps of Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojević (2001–2004), Srdjan Zivojnov (2011/12), and Dusan Stojanovic (2023/24).

Speaking after his appointment, Milincic expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to manage one of Uganda’s most decorated football clubs.

“I am honoured and thrilled to join SC Villa, a club with such a rich history and dedicated fan base. I am eager to work with the players, staff, and management to build a formidable team that will challenge for every available trophy. I know expectations are high, and I am committed to delivering success and making our supporters proud,” he said.

SC Villa President Omar Mandela welcomed the new coach with confidence, stating:

“After a thorough selection process, we are confident that Milincic’s experience, vision, expertise, and passion for the game align perfectly with our ambitions. We believe he is the right person to lead our team to new heights, both domestically and on the continental stage.”

The 38-year-old Milincic brings a wealth of experience to the Jogoos. He most recently served as assistant coach at FK Napredak Krusevac in Serbia’s top-flight league until March this year. Prior to that, he worked as a match analyst for the Serbian national team, as well as for clubs including Al Ettifaq and Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, AEK Athens in Greece, and Red Star Belgrade.

Milincic also served as assistant coach of the Bulgarian national team between July 2022 and October 2023.

His arrival signals SC Villa’s intent to rebuild and mount serious competition on both local and continental fronts ahead of the new season.
