Kenya has turned to Ugandan sports events maestro Bobkins Kibirige of Kibo Media for crowd control and gate operations at the highly anticipated TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) final, set for tomorrow at Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi.

This year’s CHAN tournament, staged under the theme Pamoja—a Swahili word meaning “together”—has showcased unprecedented East African unity, with Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania joining forces to co-host the continental football showpiece. Though all three host nations exited at the quarter-final stage, the ethos of Pamoja continues to bind the tournament’s climax.

Tomorrow’s final will see Morocco face surprise package Madagascar in front of a packed stadium, and Kenyan organisers are taking no chances in ensuring smooth fan access and safety. To this end, they have enlisted the expertise of Kibirige, a veteran of sports events management across East Africa.

Kibirige has built a reputation for meticulous planning and large-scale fan engagement. In Uganda, he has been central to the Local Organising Committee’s Fan Parks, which successfully brought a slice of CHAN action to thousands of supporters unable to attend matches in stadiums. His track record in balancing crowd excitement with security protocols made him the natural choice for Kenya’s showpiece finale.

With East Africa having co-hosted the tournament for the first time in history, the deployment of a Ugandan professional to oversee matchday crowd logistics underscores the spirit of regional collaboration. The final is expected to be a festival of football, culture, and unity—true to the theme Pamoja.
