The Mwiri League, powered by Guinness, is officially back for Season Six, promising a bigger and more vibrant experience for all the Busoga College Mwiri alumni.

The new season was launched on Tuesday, November 18, at the International University of East Africa (IUEA) in Kansanga, the same venue that will now host the league’s matchdays going forward.

The official kick-off for this season is set for this Saturday, November 22.

Mwiri League Chairman Shadrack Olinga said the organisers are fully prepared and excited for what lies ahead.

Mwiri League Chairman Shadrack Olinga making his remarks.

“We are absolutely ready for Season Six. Everything is in place, and we expect a thrilling experience for the entire Mwiri community. I want to thank all our sponsors for believing in this league and contributing to its growth. To all Mwiri Old Boys, we encourage you to turn up in big numbers and make this season truly special,” Olinga said.

This season will feature 22 teams. It will run under a Swiss-style league format, where teams face different opponents across the season. This allows for more diverse matchups, fewer repeats, and a single league table before the top sides advance to the knockout playoffs that will determine the eventual champion.

Guinness, the leading supporter of Old Boys leagues in Uganda, reaffirmed its commitment to elevating matchdays and strengthening alumni communities.

Mercy Atwongyeire, Project Manager for Premium Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited speaking at the press briefing.

“Guinness is proud to stand with the Mwiri League as a partner in this experience. We are here to elevate matchdays with the bold Guinness spirit that brings excitement, connection, and great vibes to every moment,” said Mercy Atwongyeire, Project Manager for Premium Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited.

Matchday One will set the tone, featuring intense action on the pitch along with entertainment from MC Kats, the ‘King of the Mic’, and a variety of off-pitch activities, including board games.

With Guinness set to elevate the matchday experience, fans will equally enjoy a full-service experience from other league partners. NIRA will provide national ID renewal services, while Marie Stopes will offer a free medical camp.

The other partners are; NRG Radio, MTN, SafeBoda, Kenbright, Jonakee Holdings, and Across the Nile Resort & Adventures.

Suici FC are the defending champions of the Mwiri Leage having lifted the coveted main shield in May this year.
