On Thursday, 5 February 2026, I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series title sponsors- I&M Bank Uganda, hosted partners and sponsors of the tournament at an exclusive appreciation dinner at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

The series that started as a casual outing by a group of golfers from Entebbe Club, has now become one of the stand-out events in the Uganda Golf Union calendar, thanks for the support from a line-up on dedicated sponsors and partners.

Throughout the 2025 season, the different partners were consistently deliberate to elevate the Golf Series experience at every edition. RwandAir rewarded top winners with air tickets to destinations of their choice, where the airline flies. The airline also discounted golfers’ flights to Kigali for the second cross-border edition of the series that was held at the Kigali Golf and Apartments last November.

The Kampala Serena and Lake Victoria Serena hotels awarded top winners with staycations, while Kigali Serena Hotel extended amazing discounts to Ugandan golfers during the Kigali leg of the series.  Mitsubishi Motors consistently fielded the hole-in-one prize- a Mitsubishi Xpander, while GA Insurance ensured that the prize was fully insured.

Johnnie Walker ensured that golfers and guests enjoyed exceptional bottle offers, complete with perfect serves, as well as welcome cocktails that set the mood for every 19th hole experience at each edition. The brand hosted daily quizzes from Monday to Friday, during each tournament week, with questions around sponsor products and services, the series, and golf in general. The winners were rewarded with bottles of Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve at each quarterly event.

The other sponsors include NBS Sport, Case Hospital, Timecop Security, Fenon Events, and Goldman Luxury, who consistently chipped in with their respective services throughout the 2025 season.

Elly Kibuuka Mukasa, the Katogo Captain, expressed gratitude and applauded the series partners for their consistency, and promised an even more exciting 2026 season.

Katogo Captain Elly Mukasa Kibuuka addressing the tournament sponsors.

“Thank you for your support last year. Because of the combined efforts from all of you, we managed to consolidate our past achievements and even attain new ones. I’m happy to share that before you all came on board, the Katogo Series was just a small ordinary golf outing like any other, but a few years down the road- we are setting the benchmark for all other competitions,.

Last year, the series grew in popularity, with full courses at all its quarterly events, including the regional leg in Kigali, where the Ugandan contingent outnumbered the hosts.

Title sponsors- I&M Bank, maintained its CSR trajectory, by continuing to support the education of caddies and children of the course maintenance staff.

According to I&M Bank CEO- Robin Bairstow, the Katogo series’ focus on different aspects, not just competition, has gone a long way to give it greater meaning and purpose.

“Focusing on more than just the competitive side of the series has been very rewarding. It is encouraging to support those working behind the scenes, who help everything run smoothly, especially on tournament days,” he said.

On the business side, Bairstow pointed out that the series gave the bank a strong platform to showcase some of their incredible products and solutions.

“We sold 16 Mitsubishi pickup trucks through the Tukikube ne I&M Bank campaign, which were displayed on tournament days at Entebbe Club, clearly demonstrating the tangible business value of this partnership,” he added.

Annette Nakiyaga, the I&M Bank Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications, shared a sneak peak of what promises to be an exciting 2026 season that tees off on March 14th.

“This year, Kenyan golfers from Limuru Country Club, Muthaiga Golf Club, and other clubs, will visit Entebbe Club later, for the return leg of the Migingo Skirmishes, which they won at Limuru in 2024, during the inaugural regional leg. We also have another regional tour planned for this year, and we will communicate the date later in the season,” she said.

Nakiyaga also shared that the sponsors list is set to grow as more partners have expressed interest to join the series; “we will be unveiling a new sponsor soon. Expect us to raise the bar even higher this year in all aspects,” she said.

With all partners committing to the series, plans for a professionals category in place, and the promise of new formats on the horizon, golfers should anticipate yet another exciting I&M Bank Series this year.
