Football fans turned up in large numbers and created an electric atmosphere as the Guinness Matchday On Tour made its debut stop in Kira at BBQ Fusion on Sunday.
The matchday truck rolled into the area for the first time, bringing with it the signature Guinness fan experience that combined live match screenings, music, and interactive entertainment for football lovers.
DJ sets, chants, and passionate celebrations filled the venue, but it was Manchester United supporters who arguably stole the spotlight following their team’s impressive victory.
Fans were also treated to exciting giveaways through the Matchday Minutes activation, where supporters won a variety of Guinness merchandise after correctly predicting key moments in the games. Winners walked away with branded goodies, adding an extra layer of excitement to the live match viewing experience.
In the opening match, Manchester United strengthened their push for Champions League qualification with a convincing 3-1 win against Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Michael Carrick’s side took the lead through Casemiro’s second-half opener before Ross Barkley briefly restored parity for Villa. However, United finished strongly with Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko scoring in the closing stages to seal Carrick’s seventh win in nine matches since taking over as interim manager.
The result left United sitting third in the Premier League standings, three points clear of fourth-placed Villa in the race for a top-four finish and a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
In Kira, the final whistle triggered jubilant scenes among United fans. Moments later, the DJ blasted the famous “Glory Glory Man United” anthem, prompting supporters to sing along word for word while raising the iconic Guinness bottles in celebration.
Many fans said the result signalled a return to better days for the club.
“It finally feels like the good days are coming back,” said one excited fan. “The team is playing with confidence again, and the results are starting to show,” Jeff, a Red Devils fan said.
Another supporter echoed the optimism: “Carrick has really changed things. Seven wins in nine games is not a joke. If we keep playing like this, the Champions League is coming back to Old Trafford.”
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Liverpool were held to a draw by relegation-threatened Tottenham Hotspur in an entertaining encounter.
Dominik Szoboszlai had given Liverpool the lead in the 18th minute with a well-taken free-kick that goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario could not keep out. However, Richarlison rescued a point for Spurs late on with a composed finish after being played through by Randal Kolo Muani.
The entertainment went beyond the football, with viral sensation Elijah Kitaka, known for his hit Daily Bundle, delivering a lively performance.
Speaking at the event, Guinness Brand Manager Denise Nazzinda said the Matchday On Tour initiative is designed to celebrate football fans and bring the matchday experience closer to communities.
“Guinness Matchday On Tour is all about the fans. That’s why we bring these experiences closer to them, so they can watch the games together, celebrate their teams, and enjoy the passion that football brings,” Nazzinda said.
Following the lively Kira edition, the Guinness Matchday On Tour will next head to Masaka on April 19.
