The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ugandan Embassy in the Russian Federation have welcomed a delegation of leading Russian influencers for a cultural and tourism experience designed to spotlight Uganda’s beauty, hospitality, and adventure to international audiences.

The visit, led by Uganda’s Ambassador to Russia, H.E. Moses K. Kizige, alongside Ambassador Gideon M. Rutazindwa and First Secretary Georgina Nakawombe, marks a major milestone in the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to position Uganda as a top travel destination for Russian tourists.

As part of its 2025/2026 strategic campaign, the Embassy plans a series of promotional workshops and roadshows across Russia to market Uganda’s stunning landscapes, vibrant culture, and promising investment opportunities. The initiative underscores the growing role of digital storytelling and influencer partnerships in boosting Uganda’s global visibility.

The visiting influencers—Linzie Camara, Ksenia Mezentseva, Irina Belousova, and Vladimir Pozhidaev—arrived in Kampala on 9 November and were treated to a warm welcome dinner at Jikoni Restaurant on Clement Hill. The evening, hosted by Lucy Bunyenyezi Mulira, founder of Forking Around Kampala, brought together officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ugandan content creators, tourism operators, and media representatives for a night of cultural exchange and connection.

Jikoni’s celebrated Ugandan menu offered a taste of the country’s culinary diversity, with dishes such as Luwombo and Coastal-style tilapia, setting the tone for an authentic first impression of Uganda.

“It was a fantastic way to introduce them to Uganda through food,” said Lucy Bunyenyezi Mulira. “Food tells a story about who we are—our culture, our values, and our way of life. The influencers got to experience the richness of our cuisine and the warmth of our people from the very start.”

Russian lifestyle and travel creator Linzie Camara, representing Feliz Tropical Safaris, expressed excitement about the journey ahead.

“Our goal is to show Uganda through the eyes of those discovering it for the first time,” she said. “Uganda is authentic, natural, and full of character. As storytellers, we want to inspire others in Russia to come and experience its breathtaking nature, vibrant culture, and kind-hearted people.”

Over the next several days, the influencers will explore some of Uganda’s most iconic attractions, including Mabamba Swamp, Murchison Falls, the Kazinga Channel, and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for Gorilla Trekking. Their experiences will be shared across social media platforms through photos, videos, and live storytelling aimed at inspiring global audiences to visit Uganda.

“I’ve travelled across Africa, but Uganda feels like a hidden gem,” added Vladimir Pozhidaev. “It’s exotic, welcoming, and full of surprises. I can’t wait to experience its wildlife and culture up close.”

Mrs Margaret A. Kafeero, Head of the Department of Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, praised the collaboration, noting that such initiatives complement Uganda’s broader strategy to leverage creative industries and digital media in promoting the country abroad.

“Tourism is a key pillar of Uganda’s economic and commercial diplomacy,” she said. “Influencers and creatives play an essential role in shaping global perceptions. Our goal is to build partnerships that go beyond business—relationships that connect people and strengthen Uganda’s image internationally.”

The campaign also emphasises collaboration between local and international influencers to amplify Uganda’s story—celebrating its cultural diversity, natural wonders, and growing tourism ecosystem.

Felly Mbabazi of FT Safaris will continue coordinating with local partners to ensure the success of the Russian delegation’s visit and build lasting collaborations that support Uganda’s tourism growth in the long term.
