Speke Resort Munyonyo will host the Diwali Food Festival 2026 on Sunday, November 1, bringing together food lovers, families and friends for a day of Indian cuisine, shopping and entertainment.
Organised by Speke Resort Munyonyo in partnership with the Indian Association of Uganda, the festival is open to the public and celebrates Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights.
The gates will open at 2:30 p.m., with activities running into the evening. A fireworks display is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. to mark one of the event’s highlights.
Visitors will have an opportunity to sample dishes from different regions of India through food stalls showcasing the country’s diverse culinary traditions. The festival will also feature shopping stalls, drinks, music and other entertainment.
Families attending with children will have access to a dedicated play area with activities for younger guests, making the event suitable for people of different ages.
Beyond the food and entertainment, the festival aims to bring people together to experience Indian culture and strengthen ties between Uganda’s different communities.
Last year’s edition attracted large crowds, with organisers expecting an even bigger turnout this year. Uganda’s Indian community, estimated at more than 30,000 people, continues to contribute to the country’s cultural diversity, while events such as the festival provide opportunities to promote cultural exchange and tourism.
Set against the shores of Lake Victoria, Speke Resort Munyonyo will provide the setting for an afternoon and evening of food, entertainment and cultural celebration.
