Kyadondo East Independent candidate Bobi Wine claims that his rally was stopped at Kasangati grounds this morning to avoid embarrassing President Museveni. He revealed that the DPC had informed him this morning that the president wanted to use the venue, an act that contradicted with the campaign timelines given by the Electoral Commission.

” I was supposed to be in Gayaza but I was informed by the DPC that the president wants to use the venue, which was wrong. Because, I dont want to be a conflicting character, I decided to understand their problem. Today, the president and Mr. Sitenda (NRM opponent) are holding a meeting at Afro Club in Gayaza Parish where I am supposed to be”, he told the press after his release.

He stated that he agreed to change the venue and also called upon his supporters to refrain from acts of violence.

“In order not to cause presidential embarrassment, we agreed to move to Gayaza. I call upon my supporters to be voters and not strikers”, he stated.

Bobi Wine is now scheduled to hold the rally in Bulamu. Today is the final campaign period as  people of Kyadondo East will go to the polls on Thursday.
