Musician Alexander Bagonza aka A Pass, has lashed out at government as being ‘stupid’ for taxing social media platforms. A Pass who was speaking to journalists said the government has no business taxing what people have on their phones.

“How can someone sit in Parliament and resolve to tax something they haven’t even invested a penny?” he wondered.

“We cannot be paying for things we use on your phones. Those things are none of your business. Any application I install on my phone is none of the government’s business.”

Whoever passed this tax should get some brains, he said adding that this is not the representation the public hopes from their leaders.

“You are grown up people but you’re not thinking. So now we are done playing nice and we are going to do something about this ridiculous tax.

“These are not your apps. Do you pay Facebook, Twitter or Instagram? Why are you taxing their innovations? Show some respect to Ugandans. This is not a comedy show.”
