Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer, Patrick Amuriat has vowed to hold a procession to his nomination, contrary to what the Electoral commission (EC) has directed. EC instructed each presidential aspirant to take only 10 people to Kyambogo where nomination will be conducted.

Amuriat says the EC and Police need to read the constitution before issuing such guidelines.

“I want to inform EC that we shall not conduct our campaigns their way. We shall go with all our people to Kyambogo and all those planning to block us should be prepared because we are known for defiance,” says Amuriat.

Earlier this week police threatened to arrest any presidential candidate who will hold a procession of more than 10 people.

“We are getting information that some presidential aspirants are mobilising thousands of their supporters to escort them for nominations next week. Any presidential aspirant, who makes a procession, contrary to EC guidelines of having only 10 people, will be arrested & detained,” Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said on Tuesday.

Amuriat is set to be nominated on November 3rd 2020, the same day NUP presidential flag bearer Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu will be nominated.
