Vipers SC has announced it will not take part in this Saturday’s highly anticipated double-header against Kitara FC at Namboole Stadium, citing grievances with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) over the new league format.

In a strongly worded statement, the reigning league giants accused FUFA of “unethical and disrespectful” treatment of privately owned clubs and of disregarding their contributions to Ugandan football.

“Vipers Sports Club informs its fans, stakeholders, football lovers, and the general public that the club shall not participate in the new league format double-header game against Kitara FC scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Namboole Stadium until FUFA formally and respectfully responds to the issues raised in our various correspondences and petitions against the new league format and reforms,” the statement read in part.

The club further expressed gratitude to its supporters, saying, “Vipers SC appreciates the support and encouragement from the fans, genuine football lovers, and all stakeholders in the pursuit of integrity of the game and a league that listens to and respects all stakeholders.”

Vipers has vowed to exhaust all avenues within football regulations to defend its rights as a FUFA member, insisting that its grievances must be addressed before it returns to competition.

The standoff casts fresh uncertainty over the league’s new format and raises questions about FUFA’s relationship with some of its most influential member clubs.
