MTN Uganda has partnered with Fero Mobile to launch an entry-level smartphone onto the market that will enable more Ugandans to get connected to the internet. The hand-set has been made available at the start of the festive season; at a time considered for gifting. It is the perfect gift for the perfect price this Christmas.

“If you were looking for the perfect gift this Christmas, why not gift a Fero? Even with internet connectivity rapidly rising in Uganda, there are Ugandans who would still want to get online, at an affordable rate. The Fero Mobile comes in handy,” said Olivier Prentout the MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer.

According to the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), nearly 60% of Ugandans have access to a mobile phone. Not all these mobile handsets are connected to the internet. There are several people looking to own handsets that are affordable and within their means. The Fero A4100 is an entry-level smartphone that can connect to 3G, one of the fastest and most reliable internet connections in Uganda. MTN Uganda also offers fast and reliable 4G LTE internet connectivity.

“On top of ensuring Ugandans have access to the internet, the handset will be connected to the MTN network, which is reliable and accessible all over the country. We are glad to be enabling increased access to the internet in Uganda and making the lives of many Ugandans brighter by staying connected. MTN Uganda has invested heavily in infrastructure country wide to further expand reliable and affordable internet connectivity. Coupled with our recently reduced internet and social bundle rates, we believe this combination will be the perfect gift this Christmas. This is in line with our vision at MTN to lead the delivery of a bold, new digital world to our customers,” Olivier added.

The choice of a Fero mobile phone comes with it having a long battery life, thereby prolonging internet surfing experience. This handset will be retailing at Ugx.119,000 a bargain price for its unique features and will be available at MTN service centers across the country. As a perfect gift from MTN, customers will be further pleased to enjoy free data worth 1GB, a free sim-card and a phone jacket, compliments of MTN Uganda when you buy the Fero Mobile this festive season.

Commenting on the device, Vikram Gopal, a Fero representative in Uganda said, “We are excited to be partnering with MTN Uganda on this device. It is one of our most highly demanded and reliable devices especially for the markets in Africa. The partnership with MTN means we can now connect more people to the internet with a device that fits their budget.”
