COVID-19 pandemic has brought a big economic shock all over the world as businesses have been badly affected due to the lockdown intended to combat the spread of coronavirus.

In Uganda, hundreds of thousands are no longer working due to the directives that were issued by President Museveni to decongest and limit movement of people. With a few businesses still operating, owners are complaining of low sales given that people are not working.

Local carpenters at Mulago roundabout that specifically deal in making coffins are crying that their businesses are set to collapse due to low revenue sales.

According to their Chairperson Bamulanze Tahaya Musa, the banning of public transport has made their business inaccessible to most of their clients.

Tahaya also said given the fact that people no longer work; they can barely afford to buy coffins.

“For the few that come to buy, they come with little money. A casket that we used to sale at Shs800000 is now at Shs500000 but still people cannot afford that,” Tahaya said.
