Singer Ziza Bafana, Gyayo Ntekeyo most popular for his song his holding a concert at the Club Ambiance parking lot in Bukesa this Friday. We caught up with him and he talked music and his previous jobs like repairing motorcycles and cars.

When did you start singing?

In 2008, but my first hit song was Tebakulimba alongside Yiya Moze. We were called Back 2 Life.

You guys were doing well. Why did you part ways?

We had signed a contract with Producer Washington to manage us, but when it expired, Yiya Moze never renewed it. But I didn’t miss him because he was not serious and he was selfish.

Which do you consider as your greatest song?

Of course Gyayo Ntekeyo. It has sustained me for the past one and half years. It’s the most requested and most loved among my songs though I have other popular songs like Tebakulimba, Namagalo, Bantu Baffe featuring King Saha and my latest Pomini, which has been very well received.

What is your education background?

I didn’t go far in school. I went to Bright Community Academy in for my primary education, then joined City View up to S.4.

What did you do after that?

I started repairing motorcycles but one day I knocked someone as I was riding a bike and ran to my uncle’s place in Masaka. He taught me how to repair motor vehicles. I also did tomato farming until I got saved and returned to Kampala.

You got saved? Seriously, are you making this up?

True story. I became a dancer in church, did crusades and tried  gospel music until one of my good friends Markafrica advised me that my voice wasn’t suited for church music but something else, that’s how I got into secular music.

What plans do you have for your Friday concert?

It’s going to be mega. We are at Club Ambiance parking lot. Entrance is Shs10k and 30k for VIPs. On Saturday I will perform at Satellite Beach Mukono and entrance fee will be 5k and on Sunday I will be at Afro Club Kasangati for 5k.
