Musician Eddy Kenzo.

BET award-winning artiste, Eddy Kenzo has responded to the proposed regulations the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development has mooted for the entertainment industry.

Among the “unrealistic laws” is one that limits an artiste to a single performance a day.

14 ways musicians are paying for Bobi Wine’s sins

According to Kenzo, the music industry has two categories of artistes; the upcoming ones that are still figuring their way out and senior artistes that have been in existence for a long time and the rules will suffocate young talent and kill creativity.

Kenzo has convened a meeting of artistes on today (Friday) at Jahazi Pier, to lead a massive boycott against the regulations arguing that before the policy was drafted, the line ministry should have reached out to them [artistes] and two parties discussed.

“We are artistes that are on a national and international level. We are the ones who made the industry they want to regulate. There is no way you can do something without talking to us first. We are supposed to seat on a round table and we discuss the matter,” Kenzo said.

The Sitya Loss singer went on to say that the regulations are bitter and full of hatred and the Ministry has no power to fight with God because it is only God who gifts people with creativity.
