Renowned comedienne Anne Kansiime, takes center stage tonight at The Comedy Grill, a one-of-a-kind roast and comedy event happening at the Sheraton Gardens in Kampala.

Sponsored by Uganda Waragi, the show promises to ignite the comedy scene with its bold format and a lineup that blends humor, and star power.

Dubbed The Comedy Grill of Anne Kansiime, the event features Kansiime not just as the star, but also as the main course—roasted by a fiery lineup of Uganda’s celebrities and comedians.

Hosting the night’s festivities are seasoned emcees Tuwangye Richard and Deedan Muyiira, who will guide the audience through an evening of sharp wit and performances.

In the “kitchen” are top-tier “grill chefs” including Salvador, Madrat and Chiko, Daniel Omara, Nana Kagga, and GNL Zamba. Media personalities like Sheilah Gashumba, Prim Asiimwe, and Gaetano Kaggwa will also join in the roast, alongside an unexpected but exciting addition—former Minister Dr. Miria Matembe, who brings a dash of political spice to the night’s comedy feast.

Kansiime’s journey to this moment is a story of resilience, reinvention, and raw talent. From humble beginnings at Makerere University in 2007, performing skits with Theatre Factory, to becoming a household name through Fun Factory’s hit TV shows Barbed Wire and U-Turn, she has steadily carved her place in African entertainment.

Her breakout came when she launched her YouTube comedy skits in the early 2010s, which quickly garnered millions of views. That digital buzz caught the attention of Kenya’s Citizen TV, leading to her own show, Don’t Mess With Kansiime, which expanded her reach across the continent and beyond.

Since then, she has performed to sold-out audiences from London to Lagos, Kuala Lumpur to Kigali, becoming a global ambassador of Ugandan humor.

But even with her international success, Kansiime’s comedy remains deeply rooted in personal experience. “I like talking about things that are going on in life, because that’s always going to be different and original,” she says.

The Comedy Grill is not just a celebration of Anne Kansiime’s legacy—it’s a live tribute to her impact, personality, and fearless comedic voice. And if tonight’s show is anything like her career, it’ll be bold, boundary-breaking, and brilliantly entertaining.
