Ugandan creative duo Nsimbi, made up of musicians GNL Zamba and Miriam Tamar, are taking their multidisciplinary artistic journey into cinema with their debut musical film, Infinity.
The film brings together the duo’s passion for music, fashion, poetry, dance and film in a story that celebrates Uganda’s landscapes, culture and creative talent.
At the heart of Infinity is the story of a young boy who is forced to confront his selfishness and rediscover his connection to his community, nature and the wider universe.
His journey of healing and transformation is guided by a wise shaman and his younger sister, taking him through an experience that explores personal growth, community and the relationship between people and nature.

Beyond its fictional story, Infinity also serves as a showcase of Uganda’s growing creative industry.
The production was made entirely with a Ugandan crew, bringing together local professionals across different creative disciplines. Matege Rogers directed the film, while Gashumba handled cinematography. The wardrobe was designed by Abaas Kaijuka, with choreography by Nabagala Lilian and photography by Gats Bulega.
Andrew Ahuura Quad A and ABM worked on sound and set design, while Ernest and Miriam Nsimbi wrote and executive produced the film.
Uganda itself plays a central role in the production. Its landscapes, cultural traditions, music and fashion are woven into the story, rather than simply being used as a backdrop.

“ We love film, music and fashion, and Infinity gave us the opportunity to bring all of those worlds together,” the duo said.
The film has already reached audiences both in Uganda and abroad. It has screened at the American Center Kampala, German Cultural Centre and Alliance Française, as well as several international film festivals and cultural venues.
Its international screenings have included the Mariposa Museum on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts, Micheaux Film Festival in Los Angeles, People’s Film Festival in Harlem, New York, Las Vegas International Black Film Festival, Cleveland International Film Festival, Gasparilla International Film Festival in Miami, San Diego Kids International Film Festival, Albuquerque Film & Music Experience and Richmond Film Festival.

Infinity has also earned a nomination at the UCC Uganda Film Festival, where it is scheduled to screen on 26 August at Arena Mall.
The film will be shown at Century Cinemax from 7pm to 9pm.
For Nsimbi, the move into film is an extension of a creative journey that has consistently crossed artistic and cultural boundaries.
The duo has built its reputation by blending Lugaflow hip-hop, spoken word, indigenous African instruments and world music while connecting Ugandan audiences with international creative influences.
With Infinity, they are taking that approach into cinema and using film as another platform to tell Ugandan stories to the world.
The duo believes the project can also contribute to the promotion of Uganda’s tourism and creative industries by giving international audiences a different way to experience the country through its music, fashion, landscapes and cultural imagination.
