Seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express Football Club have unveiled musician and radio presenter Derrick Ddungu, popularly known as Rickman Manrick, as one of their new signings ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Rickman, who is widely known for his music career and hit song ‘Ebango Baliwanika’, is returning to competitive football after a lengthy spell away from the game.
The 29-year-old started his football journey with Kampala Junior Team (KJT) and Friends of Football (FOF) before moving to Sweden, where he played for Dalen KFF, Gunnilse IS and Sävedalen IF.

He featured mainly as a forward and winger but suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out of competitive football for an extended period.
With his football career interrupted by injury, Rickman turned his attention to music and went on to release several popular songs in Uganda. He later ventured into radio, joining 106.5 NRG Radio as a presenter.
His return to football now sees him join Express FC as the club prepares for the new Uganda Premier League campaign.
The 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season is scheduled to kick off on 28 August 2026.
