Speke Resort Munyonyo has taken its sanitation efforts beyond the hotel grounds, by organising a community clean-up exercises as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities.
Staff members put down their usual tools, and picked up brooms, spades, hoes, and slashers, and went on to clean up the surrounding neighbourhood, with focus on improving hygiene, reducing litter, and promoting a healthier environment.

Led by the facility’s General Manager- Mr Greg Peter, and well equipped with gloves, garbage bags and gumboots, the team collected waste, swept streets and trimmed overgrown areas.
The activity not only improved the appearance of the area, but also encouraged residents to take part in keeping their community clean.
Petzer, commended the staff for their teamwork and dedication, noting that most of the areas around the resort had been cleaned.

“This is not the first time we clean up our surroundings, and we shall keep doing that to encourage the community to keep the community clean and beautiful. We want the environment around the resort to match or reflect the high standards maintained inside the facility,” he said.
Local residents welcomed the effort and praised the resort for its contribution to the community. Some community members joined in, as a show of willingness to support the efforts to maintain cleanliness in the area.

The clean-up drive reflects Speke Resort Munyonyo’s commitment to environmental sustainability and strong community relations. The resort says it plans to continue similar initiatives to promote a cleaner and greener neighbourhood for both residents and visitors.
