A police officer has died after a speeding vehicle rammed into a security checkpoint in Katakwi District on Sunday night.

The crash happened at around 8:30pm at Getom checkpoint. The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Police Constable Enock Kilobi.

According to Mike Longole, spokesperson for the Police Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU), a Toyota Mark X, registration number UBR 151S, was travelling from the Soroti direction when the driver reportedly lost control.
