Uganda’s celebrated live music ensemble, Abeeka Band, officially announced their highly anticipated debut independent concert during a press conference held in Kampala, attended by media, partners, and key industry players.

Set to take place on May 2 at the Ndere Cultural Centre, the Roots & Vibes concert will mark a major milestone for the band as they celebrate five years of musical excellence, growth, and brotherhood.

The press conference was graced by the full Abeeka lineup, Pages, Kevin, Michael, Allan, and Dr. Trey, alongside headline sponsors Tusker Malt Lager and The Singleton, whose continued investment in live music has played a pivotal role in shaping Uganda’s entertainment landscape.

Speaking at the event, the band expressed deep appreciation for the partnership, noting that the journey to their first independent concert has been strengthened by brands that believe in live musicianship.

“We are incredibly grateful to be working with brands like Tusker Malt and The Singleton,” the band shared. “They have consistently created platforms that allow bands like ours to grow, experiment, and connect with audiences across the country. This concert is not just about us, it’s about a whole movement of live music, and we’re proud to have partners who understand that.”

The sponsors echoed this sentiment, framing the concert as both a cultural moment and an industry milestone.

Sandra Againe highlighted the significance of supporting Abeeka at this stage:

“Tusker Malt has always been committed to supporting authentic musical talent and live performance. Abeeka Band represents the very best of Uganda’s session musicians, craft, discipline, and artistry. Being part of their first independent concert is not just exciting for us as a brand, but also a proud moment for the live music industry.”

On his part, Simon Lapyem emphasized the broader cultural relevance of the event:

“This is a landmark moment, not just for Abeeka, but for session players across Uganda who are now stepping into the spotlight. At The Singleton, we are proud to be part of experiences that celebrate progression, craftsmanship, and meaningful connection. This concert represents all of that and more.”

The Roots & Vibes concert is expected to feature a rich blend of crowd favourites, reinterpretations of Ugandan classics, and tributes to the pioneers who have influenced the band’s sound, alongside a special guest appearance by Joanita Kawalya.

As anticipation builds, Abeeka Band’s first independent concert stands as a testament to the evolution of Uganda’s live music scene, where session musicians are stepping forward, audiences are demanding richer experiences, and brands are playing a more intentional role in shaping culture.
