If there was one place to be last weekend, it was wherever the Johnnie Walker Bottle Turn Up was happening.
From the moment the first bottle was lifted into the air at Black Panther on Friday night to the final toast at Thrones on Father’s Day Sunday, Johnnie Walker delivered a celebration that left no doubt why the Bottle Turn Up has become one of the most anticipated experiences on Kampala’s nightlife calendar.

The phrase “you had to be there” has never felt more appropriate.Black Panther set the tone for the weekend as Evelyn Mic, DJ Mercy Pro, DJ Lito and a stellar lineup of DJs transformed the venue into a high-energy playground of music, cocktails and unforgettable moments. The atmosphere was electric. Every few minutes, another Johnnie Walker bottle procession cut through the crowd, glorifiers lit up the room, and revellers raised their glasses in celebration.
And just when you thought the weekend had peaked, Sunday happened.
Thrones became the epicentre of Father’s Day celebrations as Johnnie Walker’s own Lynda Ddane hosted what was arguably one of the biggest Father’s Day parties in the city. Fathers, father figures and whisky lovers came together for an evening dedicated to the men who continue to inspire, guide and encourage those around them to Keep Walking.
The bottles kept coming. The cocktails kept flowing. The dancefloor never slowed down.

Kasbaby, Crysto Deejay, Jerry Mehn, DJ Easu and Sir Aluda delivered a masterclass in turntable magic, serving hit after hit and keeping the crowd moving from start to finish. The energy was contagious, the vibes unmatched, and the shelves worked overtime as bottle after bottle of Johnnie Walker found its way to celebrating tables across the venue.

Speaking during the celebrations, Julius Ssenungi, Shopper Manager for Johnnie Walker, said the Bottle Turn Up platform was created to give consumers a premium whisky experience unlike any other.

“The Johnnie Walker Bottle Turn Ups are our way of giving back to our consumers by creating experiences where they can enjoy the whisky at great value while immersing themselves in a full Johnnie Walker brand experience. This Father’s Day weekend, we wanted to celebrate the incredible fathers and father figures who have inspired those around them to keep walking. What better way to honour them than dedicating an entire Bottle Turn Up weekend to them?”
For those who made it, the memories will last a long time.
For those who didn’t, the videos probably don’t even do it justice.
The good news? The Johnnie Walker Bottle Turn Up experience isn’t slowing down. Every week, the platform continues to take over selected bars and lounges across the country, bringing together great whisky, great music and unforgettable nights out.
The only question is: will you be there for the next one?
