The last Sunday of July saw Kampala’s social scene converge once again for The Big Meeting, as The Singleton brought together whisky enthusiasts, food lovers and music fans for another edition of its signature monthly experience.

Held at Thrones Bar & Lounge, the gathering transformed the venue into a vibrant meeting point where brunch seamlessly evolved into an evening of cocktails, conversation and curated entertainment. Guests spent the afternoon exploring The Singleton through interactive cocktail-making sessions, enjoying carefully paired cuisine and soaking in an atmosphere driven by music and connection.

The Singleton Brand Manager, Simon Lapyem, said The Big Meeting has become more than just another social event on Kampala’s calendar, but a platform that encourages people to slow down, connect and create memorable experiences together.

“The Big Meeting continues to reflect what The Singleton stands for, bringing people together over exceptional food, great music and unforgettable moments. Every edition gives our consumers a chance to experience the versatility of The Singleton in an authentic, social setting while creating lasting memories with friends, both old and new,” the brand manager said.

Throughout the afternoon, guests moved between cocktail stations where mixologists guided them through creating their own signature serves using The Singleton, while others gathered around tables sharing meals and stories before the event gradually transitioned into a lively party.

The carefully curated soundtrack, delivered by some of Kampala’s celebrated DJs, kept energy levels high as soulful sounds, Afro-house, amapiano and Afrobeats accompanied the relaxed Sunday affair.

Unlike conventional whisky experiences that centre on formal tastings, The Big Meeting continues to position whisky as part of contemporary lifestyle culture, inviting consumers to discover the spirit through creativity, gastronomy and shared experiences.

For many attendees, the appeal lay in the event’s ability to bring together different communities in one space. Young professionals, creatives and lifestyle enthusiasts mingled effortlessly, with conversations flowing as naturally as the cocktails.

As July came to a close, The Big Meeting once again demonstrated why it has become one of Kampala’s most anticipated monthly lifestyle experiences, offering patrons an opportunity to unwind, reconnect and toast to the month gone by while looking ahead to the next gathering.
