Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa in Kigo will host its inaugural Captain’s Putter tournament this Saturday, September 26.
Powered by Johnnie Walker, the event will be hosted by Lake Victoria Serena Golf captain Jimmy Mugerwa, who is also chairman of the Uganda Breweries Limited Board.
Mugerwa is set to tee off at midday on Hole Number Three, with the occasion marked by a whisky toast as he officially sets the tournament in motion.
Hole Three is expected to provide an early test for the field, demanding careful club selection and thoughtful course management. Its tight layout, dogleg shaping and strategically placed water hazards mean golfers will need to balance aggression with precision, making it a fitting start for the captain.
For Mugerwa, hosting the first Captain’s Putter is an opportunity to share the game with friends, fellow golfers, members of Uganda’s business community, and members of the Blue Club.
“I am very excited to be the first captain to host the Captain’s Putter at Lake Victoria Serena. We are looking forward to a great day on the course, but also to creating an experience that goes beyond the golf. This is the first edition and we want everyone who joins us to leave with great memories of the day.
Golf has a unique way of bringing people together, creating relationships and giving us an opportunity to enjoy each other’s company away from the usual demands of work,” Mugerwa said.
The tournament will also feature the Blue Club’s premium social experience, particularly at the 19th hole, where golfers and guests will enjoy great conversations, premium hospitality, music and the spirit of celebrating a day well spent on the course.
This will be the first time the Blue Club takes over the traditional 19th hole experience, offering guests a fresh perspective on the social side of the game.
As a Blue Club patron, Mugerwa has been part of the platform’s growing community, which brings together like-minded individuals around shared experiences, business, lifestyle and social connections.

By press time, the limited entries for the inaugural Captain’s Putter had already been taken up, showcasing the strong interest in an event combining competitive amateur golf, Uganda’s business community and a distinctive social experience.
