Speke Resort Munyonyo ushered in the festive season on Sunday, 25 October, with its annual Cake Mixing Ceremony, bringing guests together to celebrate a tradition associated with Christmas preparations.
The event saw participants mix dried fruits, nuts and aromatic spices in preparation for the festive season. The ceremony provided an opportunity for guests to share in the tradition, socialise and enjoy the festive atmosphere ahead of Christmas.

Cake mixing is a long-standing Christmas tradition in which dried fruits, nuts and spices are combined, often with wine and spirits, before being left to mature ahead of baking Christmas cakes and puddings.

Beyond preparing ingredients for festive treats, the ceremony symbolises abundance, good fortune and togetherness, with families, friends and hospitality establishments using the occasion to mark the beginning of the holiday season.

Speke Resort Munyonyo, together with the neighbouring Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo, is one of East Africa’s leading hospitality destinations, offering accommodation, conference facilities and leisure activities along the shores of Lake Victoria.
