Morocco has undoubtedly made its mark in the annals of the most prestigious football competition in the world, even though France prevented the team from becoming the first African team to advance to the FIFA World Cup final.

Last night, the defending champion France eliminated the North African team in a fiercely contested semifinal game. France triumphed by a score of 2-0.

In the history of the World Cup, Morocco is the first African team to finish with seven points in the group stage.

The Atlas Lions made World Cup history by becoming the first African team to advance to the semifinals. Morocco achieved this feat by defeating a Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portuguese team 1-0.

Walid Regragui is the first African coach in World Cup history to advance to the semifinals and quarterfinals.

This is not the first time Morocco is setting records at the FIFA World Cup. They were the first African team to get a point in the history of the competition achieving this at the 1970 World Cup which was hosted in Mexico.

They were also the first African nation to reach the knockout stage of the World Cup, which was also hosted in Mexico.
