Joshua Cheptegei has given fans a fresh glimpse of the remarkable progress on his Shs26 billion hotel project in Kapchorwa, revealing that the multi-billion investment is nearing completion.
The Ugandan long-distance running star shared new photos of the project on social media, expressing excitement as the massive structure continues to take shape in his home district.
“Friends, this baby is taking shape in the scenic magical Kapchorwa,” Cheptegei wrote.

The hotel is being fully financed by Cheptegei using money earned throughout his illustrious athletics career, making it one of the biggest private investments by a Ugandan sports personality.
Cheptegei also paid tribute to his wife, Eng. Carol Kamari, for the key role she has played in bringing the project to life.
“I thank my dear Wife Eng Carol Kamari for her great support, very instrumental in this project, project consultant, site manager and resident engineer,” he said.

Once completed, the hotel is expected to employ more than 400 people, creating a major economic boost for Kapchorwa and the surrounding communities.
Beyond creating jobs, Cheptegei says the investment is part of his long-term vision to promote tourism in the Sebei sub-region and contribute to Uganda’s economic growth.
“This investment aligns with my vision to promote tourism in Sebei, create jobs for locals, and contribute to national development,” he said.

Located on the slopes of Mount Elgon, Kapchorwa is renowned for its breathtaking scenery and is home to many of Uganda’s elite distance runners. Cheptegei believes the new hotel will attract both local and international tourists, athletes and conference visitors, helping transform the area into a leading destination for sports and adventure tourism.
