The Health Service Commission (HSC) is recruiting for more than 1,000 jobs in public health facilities and specialised institutions across Uganda, giving qualified health workers and other eligible professionals an opportunity to apply for government jobs.
The vacancies are available at the Ministry of Health headquarters, national and regional referral hospitals and other government health institutions. They include Mulago National Referral Hospital, Butabika National Referral Mental Hospital, Kawempe National Referral Hospital, Kiruddu National Referral Hospital, Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital, Arua Regional Referral Hospital, Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, Gulu Regional Referral Hospital, Mbale Regional Referral Hospital and Kabale Regional Referral Hospital.
Other facilities included in the recruitment are Kayunga, Yumbe, Lira, Soroti, China-Uganda Friendship Hospital Naguru, Masaka, Fort Portal, Moroto and Jinja regional referral hospitals. The recruitment also covers positions at Uganda Blood Transfusion Services, Uganda Prisons Service and Uganda Virus Research Institute.
If you want to apply, the first step is to access the Health Service Commission’s online recruitment system through hscers.ug
You can also use the HSC recruitment portal.
Applicants who already have accounts on the system should log in and update their profiles, while new applicants will need to create an account. Once the profile is complete, applicants can search through the advertised vacancies and select positions that match their qualifications.
Before submitting an application, applicants should have their supporting documents ready. These include academic and professional certificates, evidence of specialised training where required, letters of appointment and confirmation or promotion where applicable, as well as registration certificates and valid practising licences for health workers.
Applicants must also provide a valid National or Constitutional Identity Card and upload a scanned passport-size photograph in JPEG format. Those who are shortlisted for oral interviews will be required to present their original certificates and other relevant documents.
Applicants are also required to complete Public Service Form 3 (PSF 3), which they will present during the oral interview if shortlisted.
The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, 16 November 2026. Each applicant can apply for a maximum of two positions, so candidates are advised to carefully read the requirements for each vacancy before making their selections.
After the application period closes, the Health Service Commission will shortlist candidates who meet the requirements. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted and invited for interviews.
Applicants should also be careful about the documents they submit. The commission has warned that anyone who presents forged academic or professional documents will be handed over to the police for legal action.
Health workers who are currently undertaking long-term training lasting one year or more have also been advised not to apply.
The Health Service Commission has emphasised that applying for the advertised jobs is free of charge. Qualified applicants therefore do not need to pay anyone to submit their applications or secure a position.
