Tarrus Riley to perform in Kampala

Celebrated Jamaican-American reggae artiste Tarrus Riley is on his way to Kampala, and will be live in concert this December. Riley, the voice behind globally acclaimed reggae jams like Gimme Likkle One Drop, She’s Royal, Don’t Come Back, and his latest Sorry is a Sorry Word, will, alongside his band Black Soil, perform on December 1 at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

According to RedFog, the event organiser, the concert will also feature Ugandan reggae maestro Maddox Sematimba, a surprise act from Europe and Uganda’s best Reggae DJs.

“We are going to put on a really great show. It is going to be an amazing show and we are going to sing the song dem,” Tarrus Riley told fans via Facebook Live on September 20.




Riley, one of the most accomplished of the second generation of Jamaica roots reggae singers will be performing for the first time in Uganda, which will become only the second country he has performed in Africa after Kenya.

“Tarrus has, over the years, delivered strong performances on stages around the world. His performances have drawn rave reviews from the media in the Caribbean, North America, the United States and Europe.

“Uganda loves his music and we are proud to showcase him alongside Uganda’s own reggae legend Maddox on a big stage at Lugogo Cricket Oval,” Charles Basajja, Director, RedFog Events said.

Maddox will share the stage with Tarrus Riley.

The show organisers are pulling out all the stops to ensure fans get an evening of breath-taking reggae come December 1. A state of the art production setup is to be provided by Fenon Entertainment’s latest gear and production outfit. Doors will open at 4pm and this is a musical event you surely won’t want to miss.

Born April 26, 1979 in Bronx, New York, Riley was raised in Jamaica. A member of the Rastafari movement, he made his recording debut as a teenager. In 2004 Riley released his debut album titled Challenges and the 38-year-old has never looked back, racking up awards consistently, including accolades for Best Singer, Male Vocalist, Cultural Artiste, Song of the Year, and Best Song from institutions such as the Youth View Awards, The Star People’s Choice Awards, EME Awards, and the Reggae Academy.

Riley is also the holder of Jamaica’s CVM TV’s 15th Anniversary Award, for the ‘Most Admired Song in the Past 15 Years’ for the hit “She’s Royal”. Riley has collaborated with legendary musicians like Konshens- Good Girl Gone Bad, Shaggy- Just Another Girl and has featured on several tracks by Major Lazer.

A host of Uganda’s biggest brands; Club Pilsner, Stanbic Bank, NBS and Africell are among the brands that have confirmed sponsorship and association with the concert in an innovative marketing partnership aimed at delivering the biggest concert experience of 2017.
