US rap mogul Diddy announced this week that he would donate $200 000 (about Shs720m)to mend a maternal facility, Suubi Health Centre in rural Budondo, as part of the Unforgettable healthcare campaign.

The 48 year old’s donation is inspired by French Montana’s Unforgettable campaign that intends to collect funds to improve health services at Suubi. Montana, who was in Uganda in February last year to shoot the ‘Unforgettable’ video featuring Triplets Ghetto Kids, donated $100 000 (about Shs360m) to Uganda’s Mama Hope Organisation in May 2017.

“I’ve always said my purpose is to inspire and empower the next generation to become great leaders and to honour their hustle along the way,” Diddy told Rolling Stone.

“In addition to passing the torch to French, I’m showing my support for the work he is doing in Uganda.

“Not only will Ciroc [vodka] be donating $100 000 to support the organisation Mama Hope, I am matching the donation so that our stories and successes can benefit as many people as possible.”

The money donated by both artists will go towards the construction of a prenatal care clinic, a maternity ward, the purchase of a new ambulance, and the Suubi Health Centre.

“It’s important to give back, it’s important to be an agent of change,” Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, said. “That’s a core part of being down with the Bad Boy family.”
