Fun fare turned to shock, horror and mourning as a boat carrying over 120 revellers in a party boat cruise capsized in Lake Victoria yesterday evening.

The ill-fated boat

According to one of the survivors, the ill-fated boat started leaking while it was stationary in the middle of the lake. The survivor narrates that the boat was stationed at one point as revellers indulged in merry-making.

While in the middle of the lake, one of the workers on the boat noted that the boat had started leaking and warned people to ‘balance the weight’ by moving to another side but all caution fell on deaf ears.
