“All the children are mine,” Chameleone slams ‘false’ DNA allegations

Singer Jose Chameleone has dismissed claims that he carried out DNA tests on his children, describing the allegations as false, malicious and harmful to his family.

The singer was responding to reports allegedly made by veteran media personality Josephat Seguya, a presenter at Bukedde TV, who claimed that Chameleone had conducted DNA tests on the five children he shares with his estranged wife, Daniella Atim, and discovered that one of them was not biologically his. Seguya further alleged that the revelation contributed to the collapse of the couple’s marriage.

Chameleone has strongly denied the allegations, insisting that they are entirely fabricated and should not have been made public.

“I don’t know what Josephat Seguya’s motive is, but what he is saying is false, malicious and unnecessary,” the singer said.

He maintained that all his children are his and urged the public to stop spreading rumours involving his family.

“I have children, and they are all mine. People should stop dragging families and children into lies for the sake of chasing news,” he said.

The Leone Island boss also criticised Seguya for what he described as irresponsible journalism, accusing him of spreading unverified information about a deeply personal family matter.

Chameleone warned that legal action remains an option if the allegations continue to circulate, although he said he hopes the matter can be resolved without going to court.

The latest dispute comes as Chameleone and Daniella continue to finalise their divorce proceedings after the breakdown of their 16-year marriage.

The couple exchanged vows in June 2008 at St James Catholic Parish in Kampala but had been living apart for more than five years after Daniella relocated to the United States with their children.

Daniella later petitioned the court for divorce, citing desertion, adultery and cruelty. In her filings, she argued that the marriage had irretrievably broken down because of what she described as Chameleone’s failure to provide love, care and support.

In May this year, the two signed divorce documents, although the case remains before court because some outstanding issues are yet to be concluded.

During mediation, the former couple reached an agreement on child custody and maintenance. Daniella was granted custody of their five children — Abba, Alpha, Amma, Alba and Xara Mayanja — while Chameleone retained visitation rights.

Under the agreement, Chameleone is also required to pay 2,000 US dollars (about Shs7.5 million) every month in child support.

However, the division of the couple’s matrimonial property remains unresolved and will be determined by the Family Division of the High Court after mediation failed to settle the issue.
