Over last two weeks, over 80 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Kampala. And only yesterday two giant media houses Vision Group and Nation Media confirmed a case each.

Such development indicates that Uganda is destined for a serious spike is nothing is done to tame the possible community transmission.

Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health has revealed that the ministry together with the Kampala Capital City Authority is set to carry out rapid response assessment in areas of Kampala metropolitan areas and in the neighboring districts of Wakiso and Mukono to determine the level of COVID-19 infection.

Ainebyoona reveals that the ministry has already mobilized a team of doctors, clinicians, lab technicians and surveillance officers to carry out patient assessments for coronavirus infection.

Over the weekend, two arcades in Kampala Galilaya and Namaganda registered COVID-19 cases. Mega companies; Eagle Holdings, Megha Industries and Toyota Uganda all registered cases of the deadly virus which forced the ministry to call for their temporary closure.

Currently Uganda has 1,560 cumulative cases with 1,165 cumulative recoveries and 15 deaths.
