Residents of Lwengo district, Uganda’s cattle corridor have for a long time been crying out to police and local leaders to find a solution for the rampant cattle theft in the area.

It’s after this loud outcry that George Mutabaazi, the LC V chairman for Lwengo district has come up with new directives to curb the growing animal theft in the district.

Mutaabazi came up with three new major guidelines but one of them surely reminds us of ‘the no nonsense Mutabaazi’ we know.

The local leader has asked all residents to first take selfies with their animals before slaughtering. He said that photos will be saved at the district offices as reference if anyone comes to report theft of his/her animal. Isn’t it strange? A selfie with your animal!

The other directives are each village having a single slaughter centre and slaughtering will only happen during day time.
