Ben Kiwanuka’s official car moved to Museum after home was demolished

Slain former Prime Minister and Chief Justice Benedicto Kiwanuka’s official car wreckage that had been stranded at Wakaliga police station in Kampala since his home in Nalukolongo was demolished on Saturday, June 2,  has finally been moved to a private museum in Mutundwe.

Kampala city’s Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago who also doubles as the family attorney had earlier intimated that the car was so rich in significance and historical importance to be left at the mercy of scrap traders.

While handing over the car to Ssemagulu Royal Museum, Lukwago said he had been entrusted by the Late Kiwanuka’s family to take care of the valuables which also include books.

“Kagimu made a request that I still take charge of the assets that I had recovered so the books are being kept at my home,” the Lord Mayor noted.

John Ssempebwa, the owner of the museum where the monumental car has been moved told Matooke Republic that the car Reg. No UVD 325, will contribute greatly to the country’s heritage.

“I offered in my private capacity to keep this asset. The resources from visitors will be used to beautify and maintain it and any time the family wants it, we shall give it back without any restrictions,” he said.
