The wave of activism is sweeping through Uganda’s social media streets! Since the arrest of Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, legislators and Arua MP-elect Kasiano Wadri, social media users are dedicating their efforts to mobilising and creating awareness about the on-going tension in the political atmosphere.

Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima has stated that the force is closely monitoring social media messages. This comes after one pseudonymous  account warned to restrain from going to work if they were not interested in joining the protests.

“The Uganda Police Force is monitoring some sections of social media messages trying to intimidate members of the public not to go about their lawful businesses tomorrow. This is to give assurances to all that your protection is guaranteed tomorrow and days after”, he stated.

Bobi Wine is expected to appear before Makindye Military Court tomorrow.
