It is now a public secret that former Buyende DPC Muhammad Kirumira did not get along with several authors in the Uganda Police Force.

Kirumira openly took on the “mafia” in the force and was hailed by Justice Minister, Gen. Kahinda Otafiire for causing the arrest of former Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura.

Following what he called a witch hunt, Kirumira elected to resign from the force.

“As a senior officer who has laboured to to wipe out crime without any special facilitation, I have realised that my image before the administration shall never change, and given the fact that I am still a young man, I have resigned from the force to enable the police court fulfil their motives”, he wrote on Facebook on January 31, 2018.

Today, as he returned home, Kirumira has been shot dead in Bulenga, a Kampala suburb.

Kirumira has been hailed by Ugandans as a truth speaker and honest police man who was loved when the the police force was hated.

In his hey days, Kirumira openly fought crime and was hailed in most parts of Kampala as incorruptible and fearless.
