Following a shock revelation yesterday by Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda that he had gone into self-isolation after some of his contacts tested positive for COVID-19, sources in State House reveal that President Museveni has barred all Cabinet Ministers from accessing State House unless they undergo testing for COVID-19.

On Thursday, June 4, 2020, Cabinet Ministers including Rugunda were in State House for the State of the Nation address about COVID-19 and this has created fear hence prompting the Health Ministry to conduct mandatory testing for all ministers.

According to the Health Ministry, testing of the ministers begun Thursday and will continue every time they have to attend their weekly meetings at State House.

Dr Diana Atwine, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health said that the ministers are being tested because they are at high risk of contracting the disease since they come into close contact with many people.

Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Health Ministry Spokesperson also revealed that after ministers, the ministry is also going to start testing other public servants that come into contact with many people.

Yesterday there was panic at the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) offices as some staff were suspected to have contracted COVID-19. An emergency team was called into action and the Authority Spokesperson Peter Kaujju disclosed that mass testing for their staff is going to be conducted.
