Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has rescued 114 children, including 82 girls and 32 boys, from the streets of Kampala in an operation aimed at protecting vulnerable children and getting them off the streets.
The operation was conducted on Friday across different parts of the city, with KCCA saying the exercise was still ongoing as more children were being identified and rescued.
The authority said the operation was intended to remove children from the dangers of street life and take them to safer environments where they can receive care, protection and support.

“The rescued children will be transferred to Masulita Children’s Village for rehabilitation before being reintegrated into school and community,” KCCA said.
At Masulita Children’s Village, the children are expected to undergo rehabilitation before efforts are made to return them to education and reunite them with their families and communities.
