The Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) has confirmed that Maj Gen Kasirye Ggwanga will be buried tomorrow. According to the UPDF Spokesperson Brig Richard Kalemire, Ggwanga will be laid to rest at 10 am at Nkeni village, Busunju County Mityana District.

Due to the fear of COVID-19, Karemire said that crowds will not be allowed and only two media houses namely; New Vision and Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) to cover the burial. He said all other TVs will pick the live broadcast feed for their audiences from the national broadcaster.

The maverick UPDF officer died on Tuesday morning. He is said to have succumbed to illness as he was first admitted at Mbuya military hospital before he was transferred to Nakasero hospital about two weeks ago where he breathed his last. He died at the age of 68.
